To prepare:
Print as many mailbox cards and "envelope" pieces as you need for the number of students in your class – I like to have a set for each group of 4 or 5 kids. This way, they can work on the set comfortably. Print and laminate the cards (both the mailbox cards and the "letter" pieces). Cut and place these in a math center ready to play.
Santa Mail Counting
Use this activity to help kids develop counting and one-to-one correspondence skills. Show the students the number on each Santa mailbox card or have them identify it. Then, count the correct number of envelope cards and place them in each ‘mailbox’, sending the letters to Santa!
There is plenty of room for differentiation with this activity. The cards go up to 20, so you could definitely use it with preschool as well as kindergarten kids.
