Penguin Alphabet Clip Cards

If you're looking for an engaging literacy activity to present to your preschoolers this winter, look no further! They're going to love this penguin-themed activity

These activities will reinforce letter recognition and matching uppercase and lowercase letters. Your kids will work on letter skills and fine motor skills at the same time! This activity takes very little time to prepare making it perfect for busy moms and teachers like you! These cards can be used over and over again all season long.

To get started, all you've got to do is print out the clip cards (at the bottom of this post). I suggest printing them on cardstock and laminating them for durability. Then, cut them apart so that you have 26 cards in all. I like to use a paper cutter to cut my cards apart. It’s so much faster than scissors.

Once your cards are prepped, grab some clothespins or paper clips, and you’re all set.

Have your preschoolers choose a card and identify the letter on each penguin's belly. Then, have your preschooler use a clothespin or paper clip to identify the matching lowercase letter. Kids will continue in this manner until they’ve clipped all of the cards.

VARIATIONS:

To make these free printable penguin alphabet clip cards self-checking, you can put a small sticker on the back of the correct answer. Then, kids can turn the cards over to check their work. If their paper clip or clothespin is on the sticker, they’ve identified the correct answer!
