Turkey Colors Roll the Dice Activity

Gobble-gobble! Turkey time! This fun turkey mat (and dice) is a great activity for your preschooler AND there are a variety of ways to use this color mat. Keep on reading to find out how..

FREE Turkey themed roll the dice activity for your preschooler to place colored "feathers" on their turkey. Perfect for Thanksgiving fun for toddlers and preschoolers. You can use any craft material like felt, sticks, pom poms, playdough, buttons, and more!

Ways to Play
  • Simply roll the dice once and pick that color feather. Roll again and again until your turkey has enough feathers to your liking.
  • Roll the dice twice, or three times, and make a pattern.
  • Play with a friend. Take turns to roll the dice. See who can fill their turkey first without using a color more than once.
  • Add feathers to the turkey with your eyes closed, see how close you can get the the body (almost like Pin the Tail on the Donkey)
Young children love activities that involve a dice and colors, so this color dice is definitely a winner here! Kids learn to recognize colors from a young age through play. A mat like this can enhance the learning process and provide opportunity to develop fine motor skills too.

Preparation
Included in the free printables are the turkey mat and a dice. Simply print out the turkey mat. You can laminate it so it can be reused, or, slide it into a dry-erase pocket. Cut the dice using the instructions on the printable and assemble.

How to use it
The fun thing about this mat is that you can use a variety of manipulatives as "feathers". Here I have used felt feathers, craft sticks, pompoms as seen below:

But don't limit the fun! Use real feathers, playdough, paper feathers, beads, buttons, blocks, anything! The options are endless!

This turkey mat and dice promise great educational fun AND it is perfect for a Thanksgiving theme/unit too!
